The New Noire Stars of the 90s

the photocopied origins of a myth

Page two of
a little story-poo
about the olden days: 1986.

Norman became NORMAN SANDERS HEARTHROB.

David became DAVID SNYDLEY WHIPLASH
on the basis of this photo alone.

I became CATATONIA RUBELLA LOBOTOMY,
the Angel of Death.

(Nancy became the Universe, but that's another story.)

Our insistence at overphotocopying things and writing down silly things led to the creation of SINS OF COFFEE.

And a chance encounter on Haight Street in front of the I–Beam the night the Chameleons UK played there lead to Lorrainne meeting Lance, which led to bigamy, Exning, and, later, our movie, UNE SAISON EN ENFER, MON AMOUR.

What tangled paths sprang from setting the contrast too high on a photocopier, eh?

Sometimes, these days, when I am almost tempted to set the posterize function too high in Photoshop, I reproach myself that such an era has passed irrevocably. Dissipated into the past with the ghosts of my laundry, the closet, and the murphy bed I never knew.

And now, I wonder, are ghosts merely posterized and inverted?

Though Bat misspent her youth well, she still ended up with some change leftover. So, she plans on having a misspent dotage as well. For some more recent slices into Bat's life, see her journal/blog Extispicy.
